Shanda Literature Corporation (SDL) was established in July 2008. It manages the literature business of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited (SNDA).

Shanda Literature has under its banner the seven most important original Chinese literature websites: www.qidian.com, www.hongxiu.com, www.jjwxc.net, www.rongshuxia.com. www.readnovel.com, www.xxsy.net and www.u17.com.

Shanda Literature has already accumulated the copyrights to the astonishing figure of almost 550 million pages worth of original Chinese literature, which is still increasing at the incredible rate of 65,000 pages a day. The average daily page view volume is around 400 million while the highest has exceeded 500 million. Shanda has taken up more than ninety percent of the online original literature market in China. It has attracted more than 61 million registered users, who are from more than 200 different countries and regions of the world.

By focusing on copyright management, Shanda Literature has succeeded in setting up a business model that covers the complete chain of content utilization. It has formed a long term strategic partnership with four traditional book publishers, namely Jushi Wenhua, Chinese-World Books, JOUSTAR and Zhongzhi Bowen. The four publishers have published more than 4500 titles by the end of March 2010. So far, scores of our online novels have been adapted into films or TV programs due to their strong story lines. Some have been adapted into online games. The gaming adaption right of one title has been sold at a high price of rmb3.5 million, which is equivalent to more than 350,000 Euros.
